Education

SmartBrief is attending ISTE 2012 in San Diego, is a media sponsor for the conference and is providing coverage for educators.

eInstruction has been busy during the first half of this year supporting the launch of products such as its instruction system, Insight 360. That effort certainly didn’t slow down at ISTE 2012, where Samir Joglekar, senior vice president of global sales and marketing, said demonstrations at the eInstruction booth highlighted a new, fully integrated version of ExamView.

Interactive demonstrations allowed educators to get a feel for an enhanced version of ExamView, a tool designed to help them create, administer and manage both formative and summative assessments. Joglekar said eInstruction spent a great deal of time during the design phase working with new and existing users to simplify the interface and sharpen its focus to the features educators use the most. “Customers are telling us that they are up and running and productive in 30 minutes. That was our goal and we are achieving that goal.”

Joglekar said eInstruction’s ISTE booth is also introducing educators to the company’s student iPad app, which it unveiled to accompany a previously released app for teachers.

With public policy playing a growing role in the lives of educators, Joglekar highlighted the role eInstruction offerings can play in helping educators utilize technology to improve the education evaluation process. “Our products allow educators to get a snapshot of how they are doing in a non-threatening environment. Rather than waiting until the end of a term, educators are now able to get feedback on a daily and hourly basis that enables them to make course corrections on their own without having to worry about policy forcing them to do it,” Joglekar explained.

EduClick Acquisition

eInstruction also announced earlier this month that it was acquiring EduClick, a producer of flexible student response system software based in Valencia, Spain. The two firms had collaborated on projects in the past  so Joglekar expressed excitement about the opportunities the move presents. “The products that we have acquired from EduClick have allowed us to accelerate our efforts to have more virtual products; products that are designed to support the bring-your-own-device phenomenon,” Joglekar said.

Jogelkar also noted that EduClick’s knowledge of the non-U.S. market will help eInstruction’s push to expand its global footprint. “Europe, Latin America and Asia are the biggest growth markets for student-response technology products. … We want to make sure we are going to be there at the right time in the adoption cycle.”
