People across the globe are suffering from an epidemic of isolation and loneliness.

The data is undeniable. In 2023, the US Surgeon General issued an advisory flagging the significant public health challenges caused by the lack of social connection across our communities. Gallup’s 2024 State of the Global Workforce found that 20% of the world’s employees experience loneliness every day. 2024 Research by TheLi.st, Berlin Cameron and the Benenson Strategy Group found that 86% of white-collar workers under age 35 have felt lonely or isolated in the workplace during the past month. For white-collar workers over age 35, the response was 76% feeling lonely or isolated.

In addition, this research found that women experience greater workplace isolation and loneliness than men do. One startling data point from this study: 67% of Caucasian women and 80% of women of color do not feel respected at work.

Not all workplaces create loneliness, isolation and disrespect. Check out the list of certified “Great Places to Work” companies. These organizations sustain work cultures that are purposeful, positive and productive — and employees love working for those companies.

Senior leaders at these companies do not leave the quality of their work culture to chance. They invest time, energy and passion to set the standard that respect is as important as results — and they measure, monitor and mentor to ensure that standard is reached daily.

The impact that an uncompromising work culture has on the employee experience is impressive. Our research shows that clients experience gains in employee engagement (40%), customer service (40%), retention and attraction (35%) and results and profits (35%), all within 18 months of implementing our proven process.

These benefits sustain as long as the respect-based work culture sustains, whether your business operates with employees working remotely, working in an office or a hybrid.

When your vibrant work culture becomes a reality, instead of isolation and loneliness, your employees experience respect, validation, mentorship, camaraderie, proactive problem-solving and (God forbid) fun in daily interactions.
