Smaller trucking fleets are likely to be hit the hardest in the next recession, said Bob Costello, the American Trucking Associations' chief economist, in a speech at the NASSTRAC spring conference. He noted that uncertainty over tariffs and trade may lead to cuts in capital spending and hiring and could trigger a recession before 2021.
